It's a long story, so I'll just try to give you the facts.|
Age: He's 5 1/2 months old.
Breastfed: The first 2 1/2 months of his life ~ Wasn't gaining weight ~ Would projectile vomit
Doctor: Had us try mixing feedings with Formula to help him gain weight. In doing so my milk supply dwindled and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it back.
Formula: We have been giving him Similac Advance, because it's the only thing WIC will cover for us.
Fincial: We don't even have enough money for food for ourselves, I don't know how we're making ends meet. Truth be told we're not... I sat down with my mom to figure out our budget and she told me that we're digging ourselves into a hole. The whole point of sharing our fincial problems with her was to figure out how we could cut corners and save a little money, but once it was all in front us, she realized we really can't cut back on anything. We've already givin up smoking, our cell phones, and cable TV. We couldn't find a phone service that would hook us up w/o internet for a cheap price. For real the only thing we could cut a corner on is giving up our home phone/internet, but that doesn't seem safe. What if there is an emergency? I'm pregnant again, and we need that phone...
The reason for this post: Our son projectile vomits his formula every other feeding. We can usually get him to keep one bottle down pretty good, but the next time we feed him it ends up all over us, the chair, the floor. It's horrible! We've tried everything. Giving him smaller ammounts, burping him more often, trying to pace him. You'd think we would have mastered this by now, it's been going on since birth.
My mom told me out of the three kids she had I was the only one who projectile vomited on her, and it was only one time, and it was only because she had fed me and then started dancing with me around in circles. It's not fair! Kevin throws up on me ALL the time!
We started him on cereal, but it makes him so constipated.
Have any of you encountered this problem? What did you do? Is there anything I can give him to make him hold his formula better??
We don't like his doctor very much... He doesn't seem concerned with Kevin throwing up every other meal, so long as he is gaining weight. (grr) He hasn't reccommened anything to help keep his food down. And now he's pushing me to start Kevin on solids even though I told him Kevin wasn't doing good with the cereal! What is the big hurry?! He's not even 6 months yet! Why can't we just slow it down and worry about the formula first??
If any of you out there are going through what I'm going through you KNOW how frustrating this is! Because the kid gets soaked, you get soaked, the furiniture, you have to change him, you have to change yourself and clean up the mess, and then you can't just let the kid STARVE! no you have to attempt to feed him AGAIN! And start ALL over just to be thrown up on again! This isn't right! My peditrition is a quack! This really shouldn't be this hard. Feeding him should be fun not a chore.
I've tried looking for a differnt doctor for Kevin, but have been unsuccessful online. The one site that I did find wants to charge me money before they give me 20 numbers to call in my area. It has to be someone who accepts Medicaid and is in the Perrysburg area. Please help... Advice is wanted : )
