Help... [Jul. 4th, 2006|03:07 pm]
New babies!

i know that a few places i will post this it probably doesnt belong.. but i'm really stuck on this one..

Yesterday evening my daughter (5 months old) rolled from the couch onto the coffee table where only her head and shoulders were supported.. i reached out and caught hold of her hand, but she slipped (her butt went down) and the way she rolled she smacked her head on the floor..

So she cried for a long time, and her granny and i gave her carrots, and some 100% fruit popsicle, and they went for a walk and mina stared at the birdies..

She seems fine though.. and she seemed fine last night too.. the thing is on the side of her head where she fell theres an indentation.. like a line, from about a thumb width behind her ear up the side of her head.. but not across the top.. the reason why this bothers me is because it's not on the other side.. (she's been spitting up some milk a little too.. not throwing up but like it's left in her mouth)

her daddy says that b/c she is acting fine and normal that she's okay.. but i'm worried..

Book for everyone to read.. [Jul. 1st, 2006|04:17 pm]
New babies!

This book goes through each disease, it's causes, and preventative measures... as well as a FULL list of detailed symptoms to look for and what happens IF your child does get the disease..
it also goes in depth in each vaccine, as well as sometimes talking about ingredients, and VERY in depth on adverse reactions.. percentages of outbreaks and what happened to those that got sick

the fact that most of the people that got sick had been "properly vaccinated"...

basically this book has everything.. it's the reason that we decided NOT to vaccinate our daughter..

Also i have my notes from reading this book (i wrote about Polio, Diphtheria, Measles, Rubella, Mumps, Tetanus, Pertussis, the DPT vaccine (there's an account from a mother who's children reacted, and her second son actually died), Hib, Hepatitis B, Influenza, and Pneumonia)

Vaccines: Are they really safe and effective? A parent's guide to childhood shots - Neil Z. Miller w/ forewords by George R. Schwartz, MD and Harold E. Butham, MD

Baby Food [Jul. 1st, 2006|10:11 am]
New babies!

I noticed while shopping for baby food that they have "first food, second food, and third food" Is the difference the size? When do you start feeding a baby "second food"? My kid LOVES bananas! He is only 6 months old, I can't get him to keep down any veggies... I tried greenbeans, and sweet potatoes. Both he threw up. Not spit up ~ threw up. I then tried giving him a spoonful of bananas then a spoonful of squash. That seems to be working okay, but I can't imagine that giving him a spoon of greenbeans and then a spoon of bananas will work the same way. Ick!

Also I noticed when i was shopping they have these little gerber juices. There are no age groups on them though! When can I start giving him juices?? If he's starting solids I'd assume it's okay... My mom says to try giving him some 100% juice and deluting it with water.

i have a whole bunch of girls clothes, and a whole buch of unisex clothing.. id like to pass the unisex clothing on to a friend of mine (you want them Emily??)

ALSO if there are clothes/blankets that you would like your children to be able to keep forever, i'd love to make quilts too

i'd like to sell them, most of them my daughter has worn (looks) not at all.. i'll take pictures tomorrow from my moms and post them..

also today i made mina a cloth diaper and it's pretty its all red and white and spiraly..

i'm going to make 3 slings over the next few days for my friend that has Judah... so that she can decide which kind she'd like the best.. i'll post pictures when they're done..

my next project will be nursing shirts/dresses.. any one who's interested feel free to post :) i'm going to model them after the one that i have that my fiance looked at me and said "can she do that (meaning nursing) through the shirt?"

PRICING: it's all the same, the exact shipping to you plus just a little more.. depending on how much shipping will be.. (i'm willing to help a little w/ shipping if it's a lot)
i'm on this little... adventure if you will in order to help other mommys and daddys like us, i'm lucky enough to be able to stay at home, but i'd like to help him so all i'd ever ask is for a few extra dollars (for everything (clothes, shirts, slings) never more than $10)... (the quilts will be worth a bit more and they will depend on the ammount of work that i put in.. but i know how $ can be tight.. so it wont be out rageous)

TIA for the comments :)

Projectile Vomit/Rant [Jun. 19th, 2006|04:06 pm]
New babies!

It's a long story, so I'll just try to give you the facts.

Age: He's 5 1/2 months old.

Breastfed: The first 2 1/2 months of his life ~ Wasn't gaining weight ~ Would projectile vomit

Doctor: Had us try mixing feedings with Formula to help him gain weight. In doing so my milk supply dwindled and no matter what I tried I couldn't get it back.

Formula: We have been giving him Similac Advance, because it's the only thing WIC will cover for us.

Fincial: We don't even have enough money for food for ourselves, I don't know how we're making ends meet. Truth be told we're not... I sat down with my mom to figure out our budget and she told me that we're digging ourselves into a hole. The whole point of sharing our fincial problems with her was to figure out how we could cut corners and save a little money, but once it was all in front us, she realized we really can't cut back on anything. We've already givin up smoking, our cell phones, and cable TV. We couldn't find a phone service that would hook us up w/o internet for a cheap price. For real the only thing we could cut a corner on is giving up our home phone/internet, but that doesn't seem safe. What if there is an emergency? I'm pregnant again, and we need that phone...

The reason for this post: Our son projectile vomits his formula every other feeding. We can usually get him to keep one bottle down pretty good, but the next time we feed him it ends up all over us, the chair, the floor. It's horrible! We've tried everything. Giving him smaller ammounts, burping him more often, trying to pace him. You'd think we would have mastered this by now, it's been going on since birth.

My mom told me out of the three kids she had I was the only one who projectile vomited on her, and it was only one time, and it was only because she had fed me and then started dancing with me around in circles. It's not fair! Kevin throws up on me ALL the time!

We started him on cereal, but it makes him so constipated.

Have any of you encountered this problem? What did you do? Is there anything I can give him to make him hold his formula better??

We don't like his doctor very much... He doesn't seem concerned with Kevin throwing up every other meal, so long as he is gaining weight. (grr) He hasn't reccommened anything to help keep his food down. And now he's pushing me to start Kevin on solids even though I told him Kevin wasn't doing good with the cereal! What is the big hurry?! He's not even 6 months yet! Why can't we just slow it down and worry about the formula first??

If any of you out there are going through what I'm going through you KNOW how frustrating this is! Because the kid gets soaked, you get soaked, the furiniture, you have to change him, you have to change yourself and clean up the mess, and then you can't just let the kid STARVE! no you have to attempt to feed him AGAIN! And start ALL over just to be thrown up on again! This isn't right! My peditrition is a quack! This really shouldn't be this hard. Feeding him should be fun not a chore.

I've tried looking for a differnt doctor for Kevin, but have been unsuccessful online. The one site that I did find wants to charge me money before they give me 20 numbers to call in my area. It has to be someone who accepts Medicaid and is in the Perrysburg area. Please help... Advice is wanted : )
